My name

[edit]

I would be more surprised if you had found my name in a dictionary. It's my own invention. Its intended meaning is the study of bits and pieces of everything from a wide variety of sources. This has been consistent with the broad dabbling that I have done over the last couple years in the Wikimedia projects. Eclecticology 17:05, 5 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Edit summary field

[edit]

Hi! Just some advise from a co-wikipedian with common interests: it would be super-nice if everybody took a couple of seconds to fill in the summary field after editing articles (e.g. fixing typos -- in fact, especially then), so all the watchlist users didn't have to check the diff to find out what has changed. Saves us all a little annoyance and some time. No need for a doctoral thesis in the summary, just some short abbrevs will do, like "typo" etc. --Wernher 15:42, 10 Jul 2004 (UTC)

After about twenty minor edits in a row I just get tired of lableing every one, but you've got a point. I'll be more disciplined about it. — Clarknova 20:46, 10 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Squirrel picture

[edit]

Hi Clarkanova... that's a very nice photo you've put on the Pine Squirrel page, but what species do you think it is? It looks much more like an Eastern Gray Squirrel than either of the pine squirrels to me, but I don't know T. hudsonicus well. seglea 21:11, 21 Aug 2004 (UTC)

You, my friend, are right! — Clarknova 21:45, 21 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Timewave Zero, &c.

[edit]

Hi there. I'm officially wanting to ask you about the Timewave Zero screenshot you created. Did you make it? If so, do you know how to get the software? I've been looking everywhere but I can't find it. (Unofficially, I have the courage to ask you this because your user page makes you seem quite interesting. [end compliment])

Heh. Thanks. And yes, I have a copy, but unfortunately it's an earlier version, not the "Final" which allowed you to plot several waves, including the one based on John Sheliak's correction. I downloaded that one in 1998, but lost it when a machine of mine crashed. It's no longer being offered by anyone, which is a shame. It represented a lot of work by some very smart people.
I offer you three options. I can:
  • send you the standard email with TWZ attached,
  • give you my address, to which you'll mail five bucks for media and shipping (I make no profit), and then I'll send you my 3 CD set of McKenna lectures, interviews, and the TWZ software, or
  • do both.
Send an email to somanova at spiritelf dot com and tell me which you'd prefer. (This offer is open to anyone reading this page.) — Clarknova 18:06, 5 Oct 2004 (UTC)
Added a permanent link to the TWZ software (in the form of a zip archive) to the Novelty Theory page. — Clarknova 04:33, 18 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Riddle on my page

[edit]

Thanks for the additional riddle. Sorry for the long time until my thanks, but I don't visit my page that often. I was wondering if you could explain how a placenta leads armies. I'm just not making the connection. Thanks again. Remuel 14:44, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)

In ancient Egypt the Pharaoh's placenta was preserved, mounted on a pole, and borne before the army into battle. This was the first flag. They retain this symbolism in the unconscious, as can be seen in phrases like "mother country", "birth of a nation", etc. — Clarknova 19:19, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Your Advice

[edit]

Thank you for the tips, I'll see what I can do, but I think I want to go through that moderation before I mess with trying to put up the heavily cited material, just so I don't get that immediately reverted back as well.

PS, I have to ask.... are you the Clarknova from #sputnik?

aya stuff

[edit]

I actually spent about two months living down there last summer, before heading over to peru to attend the first annual conference on amazonian shamanism (hosted by alan shoemaker and Soga del Alma). It was quite an experience, to say the least. I was living with a family of shamans, casimiro is about 75 and began his apprenticeship when he was still a kid, maybe 8 or 9. His wife, two of their sons, a daughter-in-law and a granddaughter also live there. There isn't really much aya tourism yet in ecuador, which is nice, and Casimiro is from the old school- none of the mestizo stuff you'd find in peru, his icaros are all from the jungle . . .

Honestly for such an intense two months (or perhaps because of that) i have trouble saying much about it . . .

None of the ayahuasca experiences were all that intense, compared to other experiences i've had and the experiences of others there. But that's basicly due to the stuff i was struggling with and working through at the time, i guess. I still learned a hell of a lot . . .

I don't have a blog or online journal or anything of that sort, but i am a member of the ayahuasca forum and have talked about some of it there. I do have about 5 more rolls of film that i haven't gotten developed for some reason, i'd like to do that and scan some more stuff in. dunno if i have any photos of finished tea, when it's done they kinda hide it until ceremony time.

I'd write a bit more but i have to drive down to school. If you've got any questions or anything or want some contact info just say the word . . . They're always happy to have visitors.

cheers

hi guys

[edit]

i see youve redirected the clairsentience article.... let me ask....what was the point of the weeks of discussions and rewrites if you guys were going to redirect it anyway....you should have told me t get lost out of here...... what was the point of it all? why did i listen to you ? at all? why did i remove all personal references? why did i reference and source all of my matereal diligently and in great detail ? why did i edit and re edit for style and content ? why did i make additional references to religios , anthropological ,socialogical , philosophical ,medical , physics , chemistry , botany , mental health etc so that all views were included and respected? why did i fulfill all of the above hurdles and hoops to fulfill wikpedia formatting and guidlines for you too to delete months of hard work and effort. your actions are without integrity or honour .....

clairsentience article redirect ?

[edit]

Hi ..... whoever removed the clairsentience article and made it redirect ... can you please try and respect that the article that was there had evolved over a couple of months of discussion and many rewrites and multiple edits which involved much discussion over a long period...... .........i could delete this clairvoyance article.... but i wont because revert and delete wars then stupidly take place which is a real shame when a library becomes a bar room brawl......

..... i hope you can respect the clairsentience article...

..... ive been clairsentient for most of my adult life and it wasnt easy to come this far and to struggle for decades to articulate my experience in a way which makes rational sense to the world at large of which the clairsentience article is a manifest example..... so please try and respect the vast amount of struggle and work which has gone into it....

Hello Clarknova, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:Procyon-v-sol.MOST.png) was found at the following location: User:Clarknova/links. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not readd the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 05:39, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Procyon-v-sol.MOST.png

[edit]
Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Procyon-v-sol.MOST.png. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Calliopejen1 01:22, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Munditia

[edit]

You’re right: it’s not the same reliquary. That wasn’t immediately obvious to me when I was creating the article. I removed the second image from the article. I found the (correct) image quite by accident, I forget how, saw that there was no article for Munditia, and started writing the article. There’s not much info about Munditia out there, at least not thus far. Thanks! Best regards. --Polylerus 16:52, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on The Medium is the Massage, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. fetchcomms 20:19, 3 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Clarknova! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 3 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
